About Fraide

Professor Fraide Ganotice is an Associate Professor and Director of the Bau Institute of Medical and Health Sciences Education at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. Specializing in educational psychology, measurement and evaluation, and group processes, he holds a PhD in Educational Psychology (major in Measurement and Evaluation) from De La Salle University-Manila (2010), where his dissertation on personal investment and school achievement among adolescent students received the Best Dissertation Award from the Psychological Association of the Philippines. He also earned a Master of Arts in Education (Educational Administration) from Palawan State University (1998) and a Bachelor of Education (Guidance and Counseling) from the same university (1995). A Fellow of Advance HE since 2023, Ganotice has advanced interprofessional education initiatives, making HKU Medicine the first in Asia and second globally (after Dundee University) to offer the Associate Fellowship of Advance HE.

Ganotice joined HKU as a Lecturer in the Bau Institute in 2015, advancing to Senior Lecturer (2019), Assistant Professor (2021), and Associate Professor (2024). He previously served as Assistant Professor at Hong Kong Shue Yan University (2018-2019). He directs the Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice programme, Research and Scholarship programme, and Student Teaching and Reflection (STaR) Programme, while chairing the Departmental Research Postgraduate Committee and coordinating the Peer Teaching Certificate Programme and e-Problem-Based Learning. His research focuses on interprofessional education in higher education, professional collaboration, programme development and evaluation, teacher development, and test construction (development, adaptation, translation, and validation). Notable publications include 'Exploring health and allied science students’ achievement emotions profiles: a person-centered analysis' (BMC Medical Education, 2025), 'Achievement emotions in healthcare education: Understanding the application of achievement emotions questionnaire' (BMC Medical Education, 2025), 'Students’ motivation and engagement in interprofessional education: the mediating role of peer relatedness' (Medical Education Online, 2024), and 'Effects of students’ psychological needs satisfaction on interprofessional competencies: A multilevel analysis' (BMC Medical Education, 2025). His contributions have earned awards such as the U21 Health Sciences Group Teaching Excellence Award (2023), Gold Winner at Times Higher Education Awards Asia (2023), Gold at QS Reimagine Education Awards (Hybrid Learning, 2021), and UGC Teaching and Learning Fellow (2022).
