Dr Foluke Abigail Badejo is a Lecturer in Marketing at the UQ Business School, University of Queensland, Australia. She earned her PhD, Master of Marketing Management, and Bachelor of Communication in Marketing and Journalism from Griffith University. Additionally, she holds a Master of Public Relations from the University of Southern Queensland and a Graduate Certificate of Arts in Writing, Editing and Publishing from the University of Queensland. Before entering academia, Dr Badejo had a distinguished career spanning over a decade as an award-winning marketing management and communications professional in sectors including higher education, international development, state government, nonprofits, and banking.
Dr Badejo's multidisciplinary research centers on vulnerable consumers and harm reduction, measurable social impact, and sustainable development. She employs qualitative and multi-method research approaches, including co-design, discourse analysis, ethnography, focus groups, depth and phenomenological interviews, and systematic literature reviews. Her key research interests encompass social marketing, transformative services research, branding and promotion, social enterprise, public health, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Notable publications include "To build my career or build my brand? Exploring the prospects, challenges and opportunities for sportswomen as human brand" (Mogaji et al., 2022, European Sport Management Quarterly), "Financial well-being of sportswomen" (Mogaji et al., 2021, International Journal of Sport Policy and Politics), "Transforming human trafficking rescue services in Nigeria: towards context-specific intersectionality and trauma-informed perspectives" (Badejo et al., 2021, Journal of Services Marketing), "See finish! Scunnered!! A vernacular critique of hierarchies of knowledge in marketing" (Badejo & Gordon, 2022, Marketing Theory), and "Weight management in young adults: systematic review of electronic health intervention components and outcomes" (Willmott et al., 2019, Journal of Medical Internet Research). Her scholarship has accumulated over 570 citations according to Google Scholar. Dr Badejo received the Social Impact Measurement Network Award in 2019 for the "Healthy Eats" program and has delivered invited keynotes at conferences such as the World Social Marketing Conference (2019) and Servsig (2020). In her teaching, she fosters innovative, student-centered learning across marketing and public relations courses.
