Florence Bennani serves as a Professional Practice Fellow in the Discipline of Orthodontics within the Department of Oral Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Health Sciences Division, at the University of Otago. She is a key member of the academic and research staff in the craniofacial research programme at the Sir John Walsh Research Institute. Her scholarly contributions are documented in the University of Otago's research repository, where her outputs focus on clinical and practical aspects of orthodontics. Bennani's research addresses critical areas in orthodontics, evidenced by her co-authored peer-reviewed publications. These include investigations into the immediate effects of clear aligners versus fixed appliances on perioral soft tissues and speech (Orthodontics & Craniofacial Research, 2023), survival analysis of different types of orthodontic retainers (European Journal of Orthodontics, 2018), evaluation of objective and subjective treatment outcomes in cases involving extraction of a mandibular incisor (The Angle Orthodontist, 2019), oral health knowledge and practices among orthodontic clients in China and New Zealand (Journal of Dental Research, Dental Clinics, Dental Prospects, 2020), and three-dimensional analysis of lip changes in response to simulated maxillary incisor advancement (Journal of the World Federation of Orthodontists, 2019). Additional works cover psychological aspects of orthodontics in clinical practice, including treatment-specific variables and general psychosocial wellbeing (Progress in Orthodontics, 2022), orthodontic screening and referral practices of dental therapists in New Zealand (Australian Orthodontic Journal, 2021), and a review of the clinician's role in predicting and improving patient compliance (2021). Her 12 research works have garnered 196 citations, contributing to advancements in orthodontic appliance effects, patient compliance, oral hygiene management, and treatment efficacy within the field.
