Her publications appear in prestigious peer-reviewed journals. In July 2024, she published 'Crime and Covenants' as the lead author in the International Review of Financial Analysis, investigating how property crime rates in US states serve as a source of uncertainty prompting lenders to impose tighter debt covenants. She co-authored 'Why do managers announce the intention to sell large assets?' with Abe de Jong, Pouyan Ghazizadeh, and Frederik P. Schlingemann, published in December 2024 in the International Review of Finance; this study explores the motivations behind public announcements of intent prior to major asset sales. Another significant contribution is 'Reaching out to the unbanked: The role of political ideology in financial inclusion,' co-authored with Abe de Jong and Abu Zafar Shahriar in 2022 in the Journal of International Money and Finance, which examines how political ideology influences access to formal financial services. Her work supports UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 on Quality Education through its alignment with academic training and research dissemination. Dr. Shazia maintains an active profile with professional engagements in areas such as the Financial Management Association and journals like Corporate Governance: An International Review and Accounting and Finance.
