Fadi Abdul-Karim, MD, is an Instructor in Specialty Medicine at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, serving at the South Pointe South facility in Cleveland since 2020. In this role, he contributes to medical education within the Heritage College's clinical training programs. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Abdul-Karim held the distinguished position of Professor Emeritus in the Department of Pathology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, where he advanced through a long career focused on anatomic pathology and cytopathology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine in 1979 and completed his residency training in anatomic pathology at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Abdul-Karim's research specializations center on diagnostic pathology, particularly in surgical pathology, cytopathology, and gynecologic pathology. Key publications include 'Prognosis and Reproducibility of New and Existing Binary Grading Systems for Endometrial Biopsy Pathology' (International Journal of Gynecological Cancer, 2011), which evaluated grading reproducibility in endometrial samples; 'Nuclear KLLN expression associates with improved relapse-free survival in lung cancer' (Endocrine-Related Cancer, 2014), exploring biomarker expression in oncology; 'Comparison of cell block preparation methods for the diagnosis of malignant cells' (Cancer Cytopathology, 2007), advancing cytological techniques; and 'CT-guided liver biopsy: An update' (Clinical Imaging, 1991), improving interventional diagnostics.
