Dr. Eunae Han is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling and Special Education at the University of Texas at El Paso, a position she has held since September 2022. She earned her Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Iowa in May 2022, accompanied by an M.A. in Educational Measurement and Statistics from the same institution. Additionally, she holds an M.A. in Educational Counseling from Seoul National University, awarded in February 2015, and a B.A. in English Language Education from Seoul National University in August 2012. Before relocating to the United States for doctoral studies, Dr. Han worked as a certified counselor in South Korea for over three years. She was trained by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family to provide counseling to survivors of gender-based violence and to teach suicide prevention programs to K-12 students. At the University of Iowa, she advocated for women through involvement with the Student Advisory Committee on Sexual Misconduct and the Council for the Status of Women, and participated in leadership training as an emerging leader with the North Central Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.
Dr. Han's academic interests and research specializations focus on feminist approaches to counselor education, trauma-informed counseling and supervision, researcher identity development—particularly among women of color—and multicultural and social justice counseling competencies. She maintains active clinical practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas, National Certified Counselor, and EMDR-trained counselor. Her prolific scholarly output includes key publications such as 'Adverse Childhood Experiences and Social Determinants of Mental Health as Predictors of Adult Depression: A Machine Learning Approach' (Journal of Counseling & Development, 2026), 'Researcher Identity Development among Women of Color in Counselor Education' (Counselor Education and Supervision, 2025), 'Empowering Women in Counseling by Dismantling Internalized Sexism: The Feminist-Multicultural Orientation and Social Justice Competencies' (Journal of Mental Health Counseling, 2023), and contributions to books like 'Feminist Intersectional Therapy: 4th Wave Clinical Applications' (2025). Dr. Han serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Counseling and Development and Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development. She has received the NCACES Research Award (2020), ACES Research Grant Award (2021), and Dean’s Achievement Award from the University of Iowa College of Education, and is a member of Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society.
