Dr. Eko Pam serves as a Lecturer in Creative Media (Graphic Design) within the School of Media and Communication at Murdoch University, part of the College of Arts, Business, Law and Social Sciences. She earned her PhD in Spatial Design from Edith Cowan University. Prior to her academic role, Eko worked as an interior designer for eleven years, contributing to significant projects such as the Grove Library. As a researcher and designer, she specializes in sustainable design practices, particularly for retail spaces, and her scholarship encompasses design thinking, service design, spatial design, human-centred methodologies, and co-design. Her interdisciplinary work bridges academic theory and professional practice, emphasizing aesthetics, sustainability, and user experience in built environments. Eko actively engages in design education, leading workshops such as “Divergent and Convergent Thinking” and supervising student showcases in graphic design.
Eko Pam has made notable contributions through publications and presentations. In 2025, she co-authored 'Designing for Presence: The Role of Space in Service and Organisational Communication' with Erica Mason in M/C Journal (Volume 28, Issue 5), examining how spatial arrangements influence communication, collaboration, and behavioural change in organisational settings based on service design consultancy projects in Western Australia’s government and education sectors. She also authored the book chapter 'The Importance of Aesthetics in Sustainable Interior Design for Retail Spaces,' edited by Christopher Crouch, Nicola Kaye, and John Crouch. At the 19th International Conference on Design Principles & Practices in Singapore (February 2025), Eko presented 'Co-design is Key to Understanding People in Holistic, Human-Centred Design Practices' and 'Evolving Design Practices: Integrating Human-Centred Methodologies in Perth's Small Retail Spaces,' both in collaboration with Erica Mason. These works highlight her focus on innovative, collaborative approaches to enhance organisational outcomes and sustainable design. Additionally, as cofounder of Tandem Codesign, she advances practical applications of her research.
