Ejiroghene Ogaga serves as an Assistant Professor of Biology in the School of STEM at Georgia Highlands College. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in chemistry and a Master of Science in Biology, focusing on Neuroendocrinology, both from Georgia State University. Ogaga began her tenure at Georgia Highlands College in 2014 as a part-time biology instructor at the Marietta campus. From 2018 until the site's closure in 2022, she was the sole biology faculty member at the Douglasville campus, and she now teaches at the Marietta campus. Her career emphasizes excellence in teaching introductory biology and advanced courses such as Human Anatomy and Physiology, her favorite subject, inspired by an interest in the human body and treating illnesses.
Ogaga's commitment to student success has earned her significant recognition, including the Teacher of the Year award from the Cobb Chamber of Commerce Give our Schools a Hand program in 2023. She served as a University System of Georgia Chancellor’s Learning Scholar from 2020 to 2022, representing Georgia Highlands College, and led a Faculty Learning Community on service learning. Through this initiative, she incorporated service learning into her Anatomy and Physiology courses, enabling students to develop lesson plans, activities, and teach lab components in Human Anatomy at an underserved high school in Douglasville. Additionally, Ogaga co-authored the open educational resource 'Anatomy and Physiology I Lab Materials' in Spring 2023, which includes lab videos and lessons on microscopy, cytology, histology, integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous systems, and human senses, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International. She has participated in Affordable Learning Georgia projects for Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II and served on the campus-based Presidential Search and Screen Committee in 2022. Ogaga fosters student engagement through early rapport-building, supplemental instructional sessions, bi-weekly check-ins, and individualized exam reviews, creating a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
