Rate My Professor Dr. Yassin El Shazly

Dr. Yassin El Shazly serves as Dean of the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University, where he is also a professor of commercial and maritime law. He previously held the position of Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research at the same faculty. Dr. El Shazly began his career as a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Supreme Administrative Court of the Egyptian State Council and as an assistant to the Egyptian Public Prosecution. He holds a PhD in commercial law from Jean Moulin Lyon University in France, a Master’s degree in law from Ain Shams University and Lyon University, a Master’s degree in political science from Lyon University, a diploma in comparative law from Lyon University, and a Bachelor’s degree in law from Ain Shams University. In addition to his academic roles, Dr. El Shazly has taught at institutions including the American University in Cairo, Qatar University, Sultan Qaboos University, the University of Bordeaux, and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. He maintains an active legal practice as a lawyer before the Egyptian Court of Cassation and other higher courts, serves as an accredited arbitrator with bodies such as the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, and has contributed to legislative drafting in several Gulf countries as well as international projects supported by the African Union and European Union. Dr. El Shazly has authored numerous books on commercial law, corporate law, and arbitration, along with more than fifty peer-reviewed research papers in Arabic, English, and French covering topics such as investment law, intellectual property, e-commerce, and alternative dispute resolution. His contributions have earned him the first prize for human rights research in Lyon in 2007 and the Best Author Award for 2017 from the LexisNexis Foundation. He is a member of the International Law Association and the Arab Society of Commercial and Maritime Law.
