Douglas Hofstadter is the College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor of Cognitive Science at Indiana University Bloomington. He serves as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Philosophy and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Comparative Literature. Hofstadter earned an M.S. in physics in 1972 and a Ph.D. in physics in 1975 from the University of Oregon.
