Professor Dominique Emmanuel Uwizeyimana serves as Full Professor and Director of the School of Public Management, Governance and Public Policy in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Johannesburg. He earned a BA cum laude from the University of the Western Cape, BA Honours cum laude from the University of Stellenbosch, Master of Social Science from the University of Cape Town, and D Litt et Phil from the University of Johannesburg, all in the field of Public Management and Governance. An NRF-rated researcher, his career includes roles as programme head at the University of Johannesburg Soweto Campus from 2014 to 2023, senior member of the Students’ Academic Development Programme at the University of Limpopo from 2013 to 2014, and coordinator positions in health initiatives at the University of Cape Town from 2007 to 2010. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules across UJ campuses and supervises over a hundred honours projects, dozens of master’s candidates, five completed doctorates, and currently seven PhDs, twelve master’s students, and four post-doctoral researchers.
Professor Uwizeyimana specializes in public policy analysis and management, emphasizing monitoring and evaluation, Fourth Industrial Revolution applications, theories of public administration, human rights, leadership for social justice, democratic governance, and sustainable development. He holds memberships on the UJ Senate, College of Business and Economics Board, Higher Degree Committee, and various research ethics and teaching committees. His editorial contributions include guest-editing journals such as the African Renaissance Journal, African Journal of Governance and Development, and Africa’s Public Service Delivery and Performance Review. Key publications feature 'Public sector monitoring and evaluation in the Fourth Industrial Revolution: Implications for Africa' (2019), 'The logframe as a monitoring and evaluation tool for government interventions in a chaotic and complex environment' (2020), and 'Analysing the importance of e-government in times of disruption: The case of public education in Rwanda during Covid-19 lockdown' (2022). With a Google Scholar profile showing 587 citations, h-index of 13, and i10-index of 19 as of 2022, his scholarship advances public administration discourse in Africa. He fosters international partnerships and leads community engagement projects.
