Deborah G. Wooldridge, Ph.D., serves as Assistant Dean and Professor in the College of Education and Human Development at Bowling Green State University. She earned her Ph.D. in Consumer Behavior and Resource Management from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas; Master of Science in Education, Design and Textiles from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma; and Bachelor of Science in Vocational and Secondary Education from the University of Oklahoma. Wooldridge's research focuses on cultural and social issues of the family, early childhood creativity, and curriculum redesign and assessment. She teaches courses such as BGSU 1000 Freshman Year Seminar, AMPD 4890 Internship in Apparel Merchandising and Product Development, HDFS 2300 Creative Learning Environments for Young Children, HDFS 4890 Internship in Human Development and Family Science, FCS 3890 Practicum in Workforce and Development, FCS 4000 Career Development in Workforce Education, FCS 4900 Independent Study in Human Development and Family Science, HED 4890 Internship in Health Promotion, and HED 3890 Practicum in Health Promotion.
In her extensive career, Wooldridge has demonstrated strong leadership in higher education. She previously held the position of Director of the School of Family and Consumer Sciences and Associate Dean for Research and Field Experiences at Bowling Green State University. She served as the Founding Dean of the College of Family Sciences at Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates and as Associate Dean of Education and Coordinator of External Funding at Southeast Missouri State University. Wooldridge was a Fulbright Senior Scholar at the University of Bahrain from 1999 to 2000. Among her honors, she received the Women of Distinction Award from Bowling Green State University in 2019. She has contributed to community service through her roles on the Board of Directors for Destiny House in Fostoria, Ohio, and the Domestic Violence Cocoon Shelter. Additionally, Wooldridge is the budget administrator and co-writer for the funded AAUW Tech Trek Camp, which provides STEM education to eighth-grade girls.
