He holds a PhD in Modern History from Texas Christian University, completed in 2015, with specializations in policy and conflict during the Cold War, Latin America, and Middle East history. His doctoral dissertation, titled “Remapping the Cold War: Argentine-Arab World Transnationalism, 1946-1973,” was supervised by Dr. Peter Szok. During his graduate studies at TCU, Grantham taught undergraduate courses on Latin America and Middle East history. Complementing his academic training, he earned a Master of Science in International Relations from Troy University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of South Florida in 2004.
Grantham’s career integrates historical scholarship with practical expertise in intelligence and national security. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he served as a Special Agent with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI), where he conducted and managed counterintelligence and counterterrorism investigations and operations. His deployments included support missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Following active duty, he advanced to Chief of Intelligence and Technology at the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. In policy and research roles, Grantham has been a Senior Fellow of National Security at the National Center for Policy Analysis and a Senior Fellow with the Center for a Secure Free Society. There, he researches and publishes on the crime-terror nexus in Latin America, advising public and private sector entities on intelligence strategies. He authored the award-winning book Consequences: An Intelligence Officer’s War, which draws on his experiences as an intelligence officer. Currently, as President and CEO of Threat Management Group—a Certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business located on the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Charleston, South Carolina—Grantham continues to influence national security discourse. His work exemplifies the intersection of historical analysis and contemporary security challenges, contributing meaningfully to both academic and professional fields.
