Dr. David Abrahams is an Associate Professor of Management and serves as Chair of the Department of Management, Marketing, and Public Administration in the College of Business at Bowie State University, where he contributes to the Business & Economics faculty. He received his academic training at Cornell University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Human Development, a Master of Science in Human Service Administration, and a Doctorate in Policy Analysis and Management. In addition, Dr. Abrahams holds professional certifications from Harvard University, IBM, and the Chubb Computer School in Information and Business Systems Analysis. His research specializations encompass public administration with a particular emphasis on program planning, analysis, implementation, and evaluation, as well as research methodology, healthcare administration policies, and social entrepreneurship. Prior to his current role, he collaborated on a project with a drug delivery company to develop healthcare revenue application models and higher education partnership models, targeting improvements in health and nutrition for infants, children, and pregnant women in rural impoverished areas of India, Africa, and Asia.
Dr. Abrahams possesses over twenty years of corporate experience in organizational management, analysis, methods and procedures, management information systems, program development, and administration. Notable positions include Director of Research and Evaluation for Integrated Life Center, a community-based behavioral healthcare organization; Marketing Representative at IBM; Business Analyst at Chubb and Sons Insurance; and Worldwide Director of information systems and engineering manufacturing systems at RCA Solid State and GE. In higher education administration, he served as Director of HEOP and Upward Bound programs at Marist College. His scholarly contributions include key publications such as "Technology Adoption in Higher Education: A Framework for Identifying and Prioritizing Issues and Barriers to Adoption of Instructional Technology" published in 2010 in the Journal of Applied Research in Higher Education (Vol. 2, Iss. 2, pp. 34-49); "Business Students’ Interests in Entrepreneurship and Social Entrepreneurship at a Historically Black Institution" in 2014 in the Journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship Development (co-authored with Falih M. Alsaaty and E. Carter); and "Traditional Versus Online Learning in Institutions of Higher Education: Minority Business Students’ Perceptions" in 2016. Dr. Abrahams is the recipient of the 2006 Association for Equality and Excellence in Education, Inc. (AEEE) National Achievement Award. He is a member of the National Honors Society Kappa Omicron Nu Mu Human Science Chapter at Cornell University and serves as a Cornell University Council Board Member.
