Daniel G. Kelly II, Ph.D., is Associate Dean and Clinical Professor at the Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport at New York University School of Professional Studies, appointed to this role in February 2025. He previously served as Academic Director of Graduate Programs and Clinical Professor at the Tisch Institute since August 2019. Dr. Kelly holds a Ph.D. in Sport Management from The Ohio State University, an M.S. in Sport Studies from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a B.S. in Business Management from the Richard T. Farmer School of Business at Miami University. Prior to NYU SPS, he was Faculty Director and Associate Professor of the Practice for the Sports Industry Management Program at Georgetown University, Associate Professor and Director of Sport Management at Wilmington College in Ohio, and taught at DeSales University in Pennsylvania. A 20-year veteran of the global sports industry, Dr. Kelly teaches courses including Foundations of Global Sport Management, Globalization of Sport, International Sports Law, and Capstone in Global Sport.
Dr. Kelly has consulted on strategic leadership and global business initiatives with FC Barcelona’s Barca Innovation Hub in Spain, River Plate University Institute and Superliga in Argentina, and served as academic lead for the Josoor Institute’s Football and Sport Management diploma program in Qatar in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He has organized executive education and custom programming for emerging leaders at the National Football League. As a media expert, he provides analysis on international sports industry issues for outlets such as Yahoo Finance, China Global Television Network, NewsNation, USA Today, Bloomberg, The Washington Post, Sports Business Journal, and Sportico. At NYU SPS, Dr. Kelly facilitates global study-away experiences for students in Barcelona, Madrid, Dortmund, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Tokyo, Mumbai, New Delhi, Buenos Aires, Belo Horizonte, Toronto, and London, equipping them with skills for careers as global sport professionals and emphasizing a global mindset, empathy, and technological adaptability in the evolving sports business landscape.
