Associate Professor Claire O'Reilly is an academic pharmacist at the Sydney Pharmacy School within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy with Honours (BPharm Hons), a PhD, and is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society (FPS). As a registered community pharmacist and accredited master Mental Health First Aid Instructor, O'Reilly's research focuses on mental health services delivery in community pharmacy settings. Her work examines pharmacists' roles in mental health care, stigma reduction, depression screening, and Mental Health First Aid training for pharmacy students and professionals. O'Reilly has authored over 107 publications, accumulating more than 4,000 citations on Google Scholar. She serves on advisory groups such as Mental Health First Aid Australia and contributes to teaching in the pharmacy curriculum, including units on pharmacy practice and mental health.
O'Reilly's career includes progression from lecturer to Associate Professor in Pharmacy Practice at the Sydney Pharmacy School. She previously held the position of National Vice President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia from 2011 to 2013. Notable achievements include co-leading a $5 million Medical Research Future Fund grant in 2020 for the project enhancing community pharmacies' capacity to support individuals with mental illness, in collaboration with Professor Amanda Wheeler from Griffith University.
