Dr Claire Hutchinson serves as a Lecturer in Nursing within the Faculty of Health at Southern Cross University. Her comprehensive academic credentials encompass a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Sydney, awarded in March 2023, a Master of Clinical Nursing from the University of Tasmania, a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Nursing from the University of Sydney, and a Bachelor of Science with Honours. Hutchinson's distinguished career trajectory commenced as a medic in the Royal Navy, followed by training as a Registered Nurse in the United Kingdom. She amassed extensive experience in emergency nursing, holding positions in education and as a clinical consultant prior to transitioning to an academic role in 2020.
Claire Hutchinson contributes to the Resilient Ageing in Supportive Environments research team at Southern Cross University. Her research specializations include patient experiences in emergency departments, unplanned return visits to emergency care, quality of life measurement in older people, ageing, delirium, and home modifications for adults.
