Dr Christopher Ng is a clinical lecturer in Internal Medicine at the University of Western Australia Medical School and a junior medical doctor. He earned a BSc in Biomedical Science from the University of Western Australia in 2017, an MD from the same institution in 2020, a Master of Public Health from the University of Sydney in 2018, and a Master of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney in 2022. He completed his MPH concurrently with his MD, followed by advanced training in biostatistics and epidemiology, health economics evaluation and financing, and quality and safety. Ng's research specializations include conducting systematic reviews, exploring the long-term impacts of childhood diseases such as asthma and high BMI on adult respiratory and cardiovascular health, and applying advanced statistical methods like machine learning and data linkage techniques, often using cohorts like the Busselton Health Study.
Ng has authored several impactful publications, including 'Childhood asthma increases respiratory morbidity, but not all-cause mortality in adulthood: The Busselton Health Study' (Respiratory Medicine, 2020), 'Childhood BMI and the occurrence of respiratory disease–related hospital admissions or death in adulthood: the Busselton Health Study' (Annals of Epidemiology, 2020), 'Childhood asthma and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in adulthood: The Busselton Health Study' (Pediatric Pulmonology, 2021), 'Evidence on physical activity and falls prevention for people aged 65+ years: systematic review to inform the WHO guidelines on physical activity and sedentary behaviour' (International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, 2020), and 'Temporal arteritis presenting as fever and headache post common iliac artery aneurysm repair' (Internal Medicine Journal, 2022). His contributions to teaching and research have earned him notable honors, such as Junior Medical Officer of the Term from Charlie's RMO Society (2021), a nomination for UWA Awards for Teaching Excellence and Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning (2021), Best Oral Presentation Prize at the Western Australian Scientific Symposium by the Australian Society for Medical Research (2020), People’s Choice Award in the WAMSS Elective Photography Competition (2020), Students’ Choice Award from the UWA Student Guild (2020), and the Gwendoline Hewitt Prize in Paediatrics from the UWA Medical School.
