Christine Pacewicz, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Sport Leadership and Management Department at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She earned her Ph.D. in Kinesiology from Michigan State University, her M.A. in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Minnesota State University, and her B.S. in Exercise Science and Psychology from Elon University. Prior to her appointment at Miami University, Pacewicz served as an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology at Saginaw Valley State University, where she also acted as the Exercise Science Program Coordinator.
Pacewicz's research investigates how peer communication and self-perceptions influence health behaviors, athlete mental health and burnout, and incorporates measurement and quantitative methods. Her current projects span kinesiology, sport psychology, and public health. She brings applied experience in mental skills training with high school and collegiate athletes, as well as marathon runners. Her teaching portfolio includes EHS 668 Behavioral Statistics II, SLM 195 Stress Management, SLM 375 Psychological Foundations in Sport and Exercise, SLM 621 Research Foundations in SLAM, and SLM 632 Psychological Foundations in Sport. Pacewicz has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. Key publications include "Teammate communication, loneliness, and contagion of athlete burnout" (Psychology of Sport & Exercise, 2025), "The toll of the scroll: A path toward burnout" (Psychology of Sport & Exercise, 2024), "Communication profiles and sport experiences of collegiate track and field athletes" (Psychology of Sport & Exercise, 2023), "The influence of social support provider on adolescent athlete burnout and engagement" (Journal of Clinical Sport Psychology, 2023), and "Testing measurement invariance of the 7-item Social Physique Anxiety Scale" (Measurement in Physical Education and Exercise Science, 2023).
