Associate Professor Christine Jackman is the Director of Medical Student Education at St Vincent's Clinical School in the Melbourne Medical School, University of Melbourne. She holds an appointment in the Department of Medical Education within the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences. A Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM), Jackman graduated with her MBBS from the University of Adelaide in 1995 and completed her emergency medicine training across multiple sites in Adelaide, attaining fellowship in 2004. She also possesses a Master of Health Professional Education (MHPE). Throughout her career, she has practiced as an emergency physician while developing expertise in medical education, working extensively in South Australia, Victoria, Northern Queensland, and Western Queensland. Jackman has contributed to the three primary medical university programs in Victoria, serving in roles such as Senior Lecturer and Curriculum Lead.
Jackman's academic interests center on curriculum design, evaluation, simulation facilitation, interprofessional training, and communication skills development for healthcare professionals from students to senior practitioners. She has facilitated senior simulation training and trained facilitators and simulated patients. Previously, she served as Collaborative Practice Coordinator for Melbourne Medical School and participated in the Collaborative Practice Centre. In 2023, as part of a team from the Department of Medical Education, she received the MDHS Staff Excellence Award for an innovative approach to the Doctor of Medicine program redesign and successful Australian Medical Council accreditation. Her peer-reviewed publications include 'Konjac flour noodles associated with gastric outlet obstruction' published in 2018 in Emergency Medicine Australasia, 'Older person with vague symptoms in the emergency department: Where should I begin?' in 2020 also in Emergency Medicine Australasia, and 'Description and student self-evaluation of a pilot integrated professional skills curriculum' in 2017 in the Internal Medicine Journal. She coordinates subjects such as Principles of Clinical Practice 3A and co-authored the Clinical Assessment course, advancing clinical education practices.
