Christina Eldredge, MD, PhD, FAMIA, serves as Associate Professor of Instruction in Health Informatics and Director of the USF iSchool Health Informatics Program at the University of South Florida School of Information, College of Arts and Sciences. She is also an adjunct professor at USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, where she teaches graduate-level health informatics courses and participates in medical student education. Eldredge earned her PhD in Biomedical and Health Informatics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, MSMI from the Medical College of Wisconsin, MD from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, and BS from the University of Miami. Her career commenced as a Family Physician in the U.S. Navy, implementing early electronic medical records for patient management. She completed a Primary Care Research Fellowship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin before joining USF. Eldredge leads the iSchool Health Informatics Research Lab (iSHIRL) with Dr. Jim Andrews and advises the Student Health Informatics Club.
Eldredge's research specializes in using controlled terminologies to examine adverse events in clinical care and trials, with a focus on hypersensitivity and anaphylaxis reactions, alongside metadata standards and health informatics education. Notable publications include "Direct vs. indirect query performance of ICD 9/10 coding to identify anaphylaxis" (2023, The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice), "Foundational domains and competencies for baccalaureate health informatics education" (2023, Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association), "Health in All Education: A Transdisciplinary Learning Outcomes Framework" (2023, American Journal of Preventive Medicine), "Towards Standards for Undergraduate Health Informatics Education" (2022), and "Vaccine Hesitancy and Exposure to Misinformation: a Survey Analysis" (2022, Journal of General Internal Medicine). She co-authored a special issue on informatics education and authored "Introductory Textbook in Health Informatics" (2024). Eldredge has presented nationally on health informatics education and contributed to developing foundational domains and accreditation standards. Her honors include Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (2024), 2012 Outstanding Medical Student Teacher Award from the Medical College of Wisconsin, 2003 Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, 1995 Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Medical Society induction, and 1994 University of Miami School of Medicine CIBA Award for Community Service. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) and the AMIA Academic Forum Executive Committee.
