Chris Antonio serves as a Sessional Lecturer in Agribusiness Business Planning at Curtin University, within the Faculty of Science and Engineering, School of Molecular and Life Sciences. With over 20 years of experience in agribusiness finance gained as a specialist with a major Australian bank, he imparts practical industry knowledge to students. Raised on the family farm at Southern Brook, he remains actively involved in the family farming business in partnership with his brother and families. His core professional competencies include agribusiness finance, risk management, and farm business succession and transition planning.
Antonio previously served eight years as an industry specialist lecturer at the Muresk Campus for Charles Sturt University's Bachelor of Agribusiness Management degree and continues in that role. His qualifications comprise a Bachelor of Business (Agribusiness), graduation from the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and diplomas or graduate diplomas in Local Government, Financial Planning, and Business Frontline Management. Concurrently, he holds the position of President of the Shire of Northam until 2027, chairing the Audit & Risk Management Committee, Chief Executive Officer Review Committee, and Community Grants Assessment Committee. He is the nominated chairperson of the Local Emergency Management Committee and serves as a delegate or representative on bodies such as the WALGA State Council (as Chairperson), Wheatbelt District Leadership Group, Avon Regional Councils, and various health and cultural advisory groups. Antonio presented at the AgEd26 Agricultural Education Symposium representing Curtin University's Agriculture and Food Science. His career bridges agribusiness practice, tertiary education, and regional governance.
