Dr. Chooi Yeng Lee is a senior lecturer in the School of Pharmacy at Monash University Malaysia, where she specializes in pharmacy education and innovative pedagogical approaches integrating digital technologies. Her research focuses on enhancing student learning through augmented reality and virtual reality applications, particularly in therapeutics and cardiology. She led the development of HeARtbeat, an augmented reality tool designed for immersive cardiology education, in collaboration with Professor Kevin Moffat from the University of Warwick's School of Life Sciences and colleagues from Monash University Malaysia. This project has been highlighted for its impact on cross-disciplinary teaching and wellness education. Dr. Lee also investigates pharmacological interventions for obesity and diabetes, including glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) loaded polymeric nanoparticles to improve systemic half-life and target stress-induced conditions. Additional research areas include the protective effects of mulberry leaves against immobilization stress-induced inflammation and the optimization of temozolomide-loaded nanoparticles for glioblastoma multiforme targeting.
Dr. Lee's scholarly contributions include key publications such as 'Cross-discipline teaching and learning of cardiology through an augmented reality application HeARtbeat' (International Journal of Health Sciences, 2023), 'Online teaching and learning of a pharmacy curriculum designed for international students' (Currents in Pharmacy Teaching and Learning, 2023), 'Improved systemic half-life of glucagon-like peptide-1-loaded polymeric nanoparticles' (World Journal of Diabetes, 2022), 'Chronic restraint stress induces intestinal inflammation and alters the expression of hexose and lipid transporters' (Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, 2013), and 'Mulberry leaves protect rat tissues from immobilization stress-induced inflammation' (BioFactors, 2007). She has earned accolades including the Pro Vice-Chancellor's Award for Best Designed Online Module in 2018 and the MAKNA Cancer Research Award in 2012. Dr. Lee coordinates units such as PAC2412: Integrated Therapeutics - Introduction and Cardiovascular and PHR2041, and has served as a judge for the QS Reimagine Education Awards. Her work advances pharmacy education and therapeutic innovations at Monash University Malaysia.
