Charlie Berger served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the School of Design within the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) for five years, where he taught foundations drawing to college students. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of Art in DAAP and a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Dickinson College. As a professional artist and sculptor, Berger brings over 35 years of extensive teaching experience at both high school and college levels, including positions at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Thomas More College, and Northern Kentucky University. He directed the North Light Art School for F&W Publications in Cincinnati for 13 years, during which he focused on teacher training, curriculum development, and advancing artistic education.
Berger has developed curricula and courses centered on drawing and painting techniques, materials, and artistic methods. He has written and edited books and articles dedicated to these subjects, contributing practical knowledge to art educators and practitioners. Known for his energetic and articulate approach, Berger specializes in helping adults and younger artists cultivate creativity and technical proficiency in drawing and painting. He continues his educational work through small group classes at the Woman’s Art Club/Cultural Center in Cincinnati, private lessons in his Pleasant Ridge studio, and sessions at Studio 806 in the Pendleton Art Center. His multifaceted career bridges academic instruction, studio practice, and community art education in the Cincinnati region.
