Reynolds' research focuses on lifespan development and aging, particularly the coaction of genes and environments on cognitive aging and Alzheimer's disease and related dementias risks. She employs longitudinal designs with twins and adoptees to study early life contexts, behavioral health pathways, and cognitive resilience against genetic and environmental risks. As contact Principal Investigator for the Colorado Adoption/Twin Study of Lifespan behavioral development and cognitive aging (CATSLife), she advances this field. She contributes to the Interplay of Genes and Environment Across Multiple Studies (IGEMS) consortium and the Vietnam Era Twin Study of Aging (VETSA). With over 170 publications and nearly 30,000 citations, key works include editing Behavior Genetics of Cognition Across the Lifespan (2014) and co-authoring 'A genome-wide association study with 1,126,563 individuals identifies new risk loci for Alzheimer's disease' (Nature Genetics, 2021). Honors include Gerontological Society of America Fellow (2013), Association for Psychological Science Fellow (2019), American Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research Fellow (2020), and Honorary Doctorate from Jönköping University (2012).
