Dr Cathie Bowen is a lecturer and unit coordinator in the School of Management and Marketing within the Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University. She has served the university for 10 years, commencing her tenure at the Muresk campus and later spending more than five years at the Bentley campus. Before joining Curtin, she gained experience in the secondary education and TAFE systems. Her professional journey began notably as a governess on a Kimberley cattle station, where she also mustered cattle. Bowen appreciates the mental stimulation, continuous learning opportunities, and engagement with courteous and eager students in her academic role. She maintains an office in Building 402, Level 9, Room 913 on the Bentley campus.
Bowen coordinates and teaches undergraduate units including MGMT3002 Managing Change across various semesters such as Semester 1 2019, Semester 1 2021, Semester 2 2024 at Bentley, and MGMT3003 Small Business Growth in Semester 2 2021 at Curtin Mauritius and Trimester 2 2023 at Dubai International Academic City. These units focus on organizational change management and strategies for small business development. On 17 September 2021, she delivered a presentation titled 'Family Business – Conflict and Dispute, Planning and Strategy' in the Curtin Corner series hosted by the Faculty of Business and Law. She also shared a testimonial for the 2018 China Business Tour, highlighting her contributions to student global experiences. Outside academia, Bowen is a broadacre farmer in Western Australia's wheatbelt region and is developing an innovative agricultural project to value-add existing farm products for export potential.
