Carlos Andrés Tuqueres Gamboa completed his studies in the Carrera de Derecho at the Universidad Nacional de Loja's Facultad Jurídica, Social y Administrativa, listed in the alumni directory for the class of 2025. His notable academic contribution is the Trabajo de Integración Curricular (TIC) titled "Análisis de la Inclusión Educativa y Social de los Niños con Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA) en la ciudad de Loja, Ecuador," issued on June 3, 2025, and available in the university's DSpace repository. Supervised by Ángel Hoyos, this work delves into the challenges hindering the full realization of rights for children with autism spectrum disorder despite Ecuador's legislative advancements, particularly the Ley Orgánica de Discapacidades.
The study highlights a significant gap between legal provisions and their practical application, impacting the quality of life and holistic development of children with TEA. Key barriers identified include insufficient economic resources, limited teacher training in inclusive pedagogical strategies, lack of effective monitoring systems, and imprecise legislative guidelines for TEA-specific needs such as curricular adaptations, specialized supports, and family assistance. Drawing from interviews with legal and psychological professionals, Tuqueres Gamboa emphasizes the need for a structural, preventive approach. He advocates for bolstering teacher education, allocating adequate resources, providing family support, raising social awareness, and enacting targeted complementary legislation to address TEA's unique aspects. Ultimately, the project calls for an integrated strategy merging robust legal frameworks with tangible actions to foster an equitable society that honors diversity. This research reflects his engagement with issues at the intersection of law, education, and disability rights within the Ecuadorian context.
