A master at fostering understanding.
Challenges students to grow and excel.
Dr. Barbara Zuck is a Professor of Business in the College of Technical Sciences at Montana State University-Northern, where she has taught business courses, including online classes, since 2008. She earned her Doctor of Education degree from Montana State University in Bozeman in May 2012 and received the Department of Education Outstanding Doctoral Student award upon graduation. Early in her career as an assistant professor, Zuck taught a 100-level online course in business communications, observing patterns in student participation that informed broader discussions on online learning experiences. She has also delivered workshops on developing employee-training programs through Montana State University's Extended University, equipping professionals with strategies to improve workplace training.
Zuck's academic contributions include co-authoring the 2013 article 'On Track: A University Retention Model Utilizing School Counseling Program Interns' in the Journal of School Counseling, advocating for ASCA framework applications in higher education retention. Demonstrating her dedication to international perspectives, she participated in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Japan Studies Institute Fellowship in 2018, designing a five-week module for her upper-division international business course. This encompassed Japan's geography and culture, the Barnga cross-cultural simulation game, films like Departures and Only the Brave, WWII history comparisons, business risk analysis using globalEDGE data on countries including Japan, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan, China, and India—covering ease of doing business, corruption perceptions, and market potential—and Japanese pop culture via Gatebox videos and a 1600s haiku to encourage study abroad. In February 2025, as a fourth-year presenter, she showcased her pedagogy on Integrating Economics and Marketing Concepts at Robert Morris University's 36th Annual Teaching Economics Conference, engaging over 100 educators. In April 2025, Zuck was selected for another JSI Fellowship, attending San Diego State University in June for advanced Japanese studies to enhance global awareness in her teaching. She supports key programs at MSU-Northern, such as the Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Management, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Applied Science in Trades Management, and Marketing: Technical Sales and Service Minor.
