About Baasch

Camilla Baasch Andersen is a Professor in International Commercial Law at the University of Western Australia Law School. She earned her PhD and initial law degree (Cand Jur) from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. Her academic career includes prior roles as Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom, Lecturer at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary University of London, and PhD Research and Teaching Fellow at the University of Copenhagen. She has also lectured externally at SOAS in London, University of Essex, University of Turku in Finland, and Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. Andersen collaborates with business, government, and academia on commercial law to facilitate international trade.

Andersen's research focuses on international sales law particularly the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), comparative law and methodology, legal design including visual law and comic book contracts, and international commercial dispute resolution. She pioneers comic book contracting through a trans-disciplinary research team, developing visual methods to enhance relational contracting and minimize disputes. Key publications include 'Theory and Practice of Harmonisation' (2011, Edward Elgar Publishing), 'Uniform Application of the International Sales Law: Understanding Uniformity, the Global Jurisconsultorium and Examination and Notification Provisions of the CISG' (2007, Kluwer Law International), 'Furthering the Uniform Application of the CISG: Sources of Law on the Internet' (1998, Pace International Law Review), 'Defining Uniformity in Law' (2007, Uniform Law Review), and recent contributions such as 'A Roadmap to Simplify Procurement? The Potential of Visual Contracting in Australian and Danish Systems' (2025, Public Procurement Law Review) and 'Balancing the Uniformity of Article 8 CISG on the Altar of Reasonableness' (2025, International Trade Law and Regulation). Her oeuvre comprises 6 books, 42 articles, 32 book chapters, and additional outputs. Awards include Finalist for UWA IQ Awards in Research Innovation and Enterprise (2017), University of Leicester Law Society Postgraduate Teacher of the Year (2008, 2010, 2011), Clive M Schmitthoff Essay Competition Winner (1999), Fellow of the Institute of International Commercial Law at Pace Law School, Matariki Visiting Professor Grant (2015), Leverhulme Grant (2009), and British Council Grant (2008).
