Anna Pibulsilp is the Reference Librarian at the Canterbury Medical Library on the University of Otago Christchurch campus, within the Division of Health Sciences. She has held this position since her appointment in 2005. Pibulsilp earned a Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) from Victoria University of Wellington and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from a university in Thailand. As part of her MLIS program, Anna Pibulsilp completed a research project in 2010 titled 'An Investigation of Cultural Influence on Academic Library Usage and Experience of International Medical Students from Asian Countries: a Case Study of Students at the Christchurch School of Medicine, University of Otago, Christchurch.' Supervised by Brenda Chawner, the study employed qualitative methods to examine how cultural backgrounds affect Asian international medical students' awareness, perceptions, attitudes, and usage of academic library services. The findings indicated that Asian cultural influences significantly impact students' knowledge of and engagement with library resources and services, offering valuable insights for enhancing support for international students in health sciences education. Pibulsilp has also participated in university community activities, including the University of Otago Christchurch Heart Foundation fundraising breakfast in 2025, where she was recognized in the 'Best Dressed in Red' competition, and the CALT Korero event in 2024.
