Angel A. Pacheco Paredes is an Associate Professor in Accounting in the Division of International Banking and Finance Studies at the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business, Texas A&M International University. His academic credentials include a Ph.D. from Florida International University (2016), a dual Master's degree from the same institution (2011), a Master of Accounting from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (2011), a Bachelor of Public Accounting and Financial Strategy (2010), and a Bachelor of Business Administration (2009), both from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
Since joining Texas A&M International University in 2016, Dr. Pacheco Paredes has progressed from Assistant to Associate Professor. Prior to this, he taught as an instructor at Florida International University's School of Accountancy during his doctoral studies and at the College of Business at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México while pursuing his master's. His research specializes in financial accounting, with particular emphasis on financial reporting quality and public policy implications. Notable publications include "The Timing of Auditor Hiring: Determinants and Consequences" in Accounting Horizons (2017), "Do Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERPs) Increase Firms’ Future Operating Performance?" in Journal of Information Systems (2018), "The effect of changing fiscal year-ends on audit fees and audit quality" (2020), "Real earnings management or just business" in Journal of Financial Economic Policy (2021), and "Employability Skills and Geographical Location" (2021). These works have been cited by scholars in leading journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies, demonstrating his impact in the field. Dr. Pacheco Paredes teaches a range of accounting courses, including Introduction to Financial Accounting (ACC 2301), Intermediate Accounting I (ACC 3310), Financial Statement Analysis (ACC 5310), Concepts in Accounting and Information Systems (BA 5202), and Seminar in International Accounting (ACC 6310). He also serves as Chair of the TAMIU Honor Council for 2025-2026.
