Andrew Duffy is an Associate Lecturer in Nursing at the University of the Sunshine Coast's School of Health, located at the Caboolture campus in room CA-CAO-1-1.27. He holds a Master of Science by Research from the University of the Sunshine Coast and a Bachelor of Nursing from Queensland University of Technology. As a former member of the Defence Force, Duffy became a Registered Nurse in 2017 and has gained extensive clinical experience working in the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and Central West Queensland regions. Since 2021, he has been engaged in tertiary education at UniSC, where he teaches with enthusiasm, supporting both new and returning learners in various nursing courses, including serving as the course coordinator for NUR100 Contexts of practice: child, youth and family.
Duffy's academic and research focus lies in pain management and perioperative nursing, specifically exploring non-pharmacological management strategies for acute surgical pain. This is exemplified by his Master of Science research thesis titled 'Investigating non-pharmacological management for postoperative pain in a surgical setting.' He maintains professional membership with the Australian College of Nursing. His contributions to teaching excellence have been recognized through his induction into the Golden Key International Honour Society at QUT in 2017 and his attainment of Associate Fellow status with the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), as listed among recipients of international AdvanceHE Fellowships at UniSC. Duffy's work bridges clinical practice and education, preparing nursing students for contemporary healthcare challenges.
