Mr Andrew Audeau is a Senior Professional Practice Fellow and Consultant Surgeon in the Department of Surgery and Critical Care (Dunedin) at the University of Otago, Faculty of Medicine, Health Sciences Division. Holding the qualifications MB ChB and FRACS, his expertise is in hepatobiliary and upper gastrointestinal surgery, functioning as a subspecialist liver and pancreas surgeon. He serves as the ALM4 Surgery Convenor and Professional Practice Fellow in General Surgery at Dunedin Hospital. Since 2007, he has held a joint appointment with Te Whatu Ora Southern and the Otago Medical School, contributing significantly to surgical education and clinical practice in both public and private sectors. His teaching roles include convening the fourth-year medical student surgical attachment, acting as ELM Tutor for clinical skills, conducting tutorials for trainee interns and house surgeons, mentoring the Dunedin Aspiring Surgeons Student group, and examining fifth-year final exams. Additionally, he supervises and selects candidates for the Surgical Training Programme at Dunedin Hospital and oversees surgical house surgeons.
