Professor Anand Khatri serves as Professor and Head of the Research Cell at Apeejay Institute of Technology School of Architecture & Planning (AIT SAP), Greater Noida. He earned a B.Arch. from Government College of Architecture, Lucknow in 1993 and an M.Arch. in Architectural Conservation from School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Delhi in 1996. A Fellow of the Indian Institute of Architects (FIIA) and associated with INTACH, he has over 31 years of experience in architectural practice and academia. His career includes independent professional work designing over 200 retail spaces for Hewlett Packard, more than 500 stores for Tata Chemicals, projects for Toshiba and Samsung IT Division, as well as civil, interiors, product design, and retail. Earlier roles encompass Research Associate and teaching assistant at SPA Delhi (1996-1998), faculty and Professor of Architecture at Delhi Technical Campus, Greater Noida (2015 onwards), consultant for Punjab Heritage & Tourism Promotion Board on statewide signage for Freedom Trail and Religious Circuit (2005), and conservation strategies for five ghats in Vrindavan and Mathura with OECF Japan through WAPCOS (1996-2000).
Prof. Khatri's research specializations include Urban Villages, Paradigms of Urban Growth, and Water and the City. Founding Director of Urban Village Charitable Trust (UVCT) and Poiesis Society for Poetry, he leads AIT SAP's research initiatives, including Gram Panchayat Spatial Development Plans (GPSDPs) for 34 villages across 14 states in collaboration with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, with the Kalonda village plan accepted by the Government of India for implementation in 2021. He contributed to G20 T20 2023 policy briefs, NIUA Smart City evaluations, and participatory research for the book "Rediscovering Delhi" (2021). Key publications comprise books "21 Seasons: Essays on Poetry & Spirituality" (2017) and "Wo Din Wapas Laa Sakti Ho" (2019), poetry anthologies "Lamakaan" (2020) and others, edited "River Fringe Development" (2022), co-edited Springer Nature series "Advances in 21st Century Human Settlements", and papers such as "The Role of Urban Villages of Noida as a skeleton to Urbanization" (2020) and "Urban Villages in Developing Industrial Towns: Case study Bhang el" (2020). He has guided award-winning student theses, organized seminars and guest lectures, delivered six faculty development lectures, and heads online learning and training during the pandemic.
