Dr. Amy Lim is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at Murdoch University and Discipline Lead in Psychology at Murdoch University Singapore. She earned her PhD in Psychology from Singapore Management University. Her academic career focuses on evolutionary psychology, with research centered on understanding modern social phenomena through the lens of evolutionary mismatches. She investigates the psychological effects of resource competition on life-history trade-offs and fertility-related decisions, the implications of emerging technologies like generative AI for social behavior and attitudes, and the application of evolutionary frameworks to contemporary challenges such as misinformation and sustainability. Lim leads the Evolved Psychology Research Lab in the School of Psychology, conducting experimental studies to explore causal relationships between modern environmental cues and human behaviors. The lab addresses topics including social media influences, declining fertility rates, and pro-environmental behaviors, aiming to inform real-world interventions for societal issues.
Lim's scholarly contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications.
