Dr. Amiangshu Bosu is a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Wayne State University, where he joined as a tenure-track assistant professor in August 2018. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Alabama in 2015, an M.S. in Computer Science from the same institution in 2012, and a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2006. Prior to Wayne State, Bosu served as a tenure-track assistant professor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale from January 2016 to August 2018 and as a postdoctoral associate at Virginia Tech from August to December 2015. His earlier roles include research assistant at the University of Alabama's Software Engineering Research Group, research intern at Microsoft Research's Empirical Software Engineering Group, and senior software developer positions at Vantage Communications and ReliSource Technologies.
Bosu's research interests encompass empirical software engineering, software security, mining software repositories, peer code review, android security, malware detection, cybersecurity, blockchain software, social network analysis, natural language processing, sentiment analysis, online toxicity, gender discrimination, diversity equity and inclusion, machine learning, human factors in software engineering, and program analysis. He directs the Software Engineering Analytics (SEAL) Lab. His publications appear in leading venues including IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, Empirical Software Engineering, ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology, ICSE, FSE, ASE, ESEM, MSR, and Journal of Systems and Software. Notable works include 'Process aspects and social dynamics of contemporary code review: Insights from open source development and industrial practice at Microsoft' (TSE, 2017), 'Understanding the motivations, challenges and needs of blockchain software developers: A survey' (EMSE, 2019), 'What Makes a Code Review Useful to OpenDev Developers? An Empirical Investigation' (EMSE, 2024), and 'Code Reviews in Open Source Projects: How Do Gender Biases Affect Participation and Outcomes?' (EMSE, 2023). Bosu has secured NSF CAREER Award (#2340389, $596,759, 2024-2029), NSF CRII Award (#1850475, $174,967, 2019-2022), College of Engineering Research Excellence Award (2025), and multiple University of Alabama outstanding graduate researcher awards (2014, 2015). He is a senior member of ACM and IEEE, serves on editorial boards for Journal of Systems and Software, Software Quality Journal, and Array, and contributes to program committees for ICSE, FSE, ESEM, and others.
