Dr. Amber Marshall is a Lecturer in the Department of Management at Griffith Business School, Griffith University, located at the Nathan Campus in the Glyn Davis Building. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Management from the University of Queensland Business School in 2016, a Master of Communication from the University of Queensland, and a Bachelor degree from the same institution. Her research interests center on digital inclusion, digital skills, rural development, sustainable rural development, and digital agriculture. As a member of the Griffith Asia Institute, the Centre for Work, Organisation and Wellbeing, and Griffith Agribusiness, Dr. Marshall contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives. She also holds an Adjunct Research Fellow position at The Cairns Institute, James Cook University.
Dr. Marshall's career includes prior roles such as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Queensland University of Technology Digital Media Research Centre. She serves as Chief Investigator on several funded projects, including the ARC Discovery Project 'The Role of Public Library Services for a Changing Rural Australia' led by Charles Sturt University, ARC Linkage Project LP240200695 with Queensland University of Technology and partners, and LP190100677. Key publications include 'A new rural digital divide? Taking stock of geographical digital inequalities in Australia' (Media International Australia, 2024), 'Defining digital mentoring to advance adult digital inclusion' (Community Development Journal, 2025), 'Connecting in the Gulf: exploring digital inclusion for Indigenous families on remote homelands' (Information, Communication & Society, 2023), and 'Digital Inclusion and Learning at Home: Challenges for Low Socioeconomic Status Families in Rural Australia' (2024 book chapter). She supervises doctoral students, such as Chanel Lucas on digital tools in regional libraries, influencing discussions on rural digital policy and community wellbeing.
