Alison White serves as Senior Lecturer and Program Director for the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Physiology at Griffith University’s School of Environment and Science, ESC-Biomedical. Possessing BSc, MSc, DMU (Cardiac), GCULT, AMS, AFASA, FASE, and SFHEA credentials, she is an accredited medical sonographer with over 28 years of experience in cardiac sonography, having commenced her career in 1996 and joined Griffith University in 2012. Her academic interests center on echocardiography, employability skills, student transitions to postgraduate study and employment, career development learning, and reflective practice in healthcare professions, particularly sonography.
White’s scholarly contributions include developing the Transition In framework to support postgraduate taught study entry, as detailed in her 2023 publication. Notable works encompass “Building emotional resilience to foster well-being by utilising reflective practice in the sonography workplace” (2024), “ePortfolios: integrating learning, creating connections and authentic assessments” (2019), “Case of ventricular septal rupture following acute myocardial infarction” (2020), and explorations of professionalism in vascular sonography (2023) and communication challenges for sonographers amid an ageing population (2024). She has earned the 2015 Griffith University Science Award in Natural Sciences, the School of Environment and Science Staff Award for Empowering, and holds senior fellowships in higher education and echocardiography societies. In teaching, she coordinates courses in advanced physiology, biomedical instrumentation, and research ethics, embedding innovative employability frameworks and problem-based learning in clinical physiology programs. Additionally, as an IEAA Senior Fellow, she convenes the Scholarships and Fellowships Network and participates in the AIEC Program Committee, influencing international education and professional development in allied health fields.
