A/Prof Alexandra Ure is a clinical psychologist, researcher, and health-service leader with more than 15 years of experience improving care for children and families with complex developmental, medical, and mental health needs. She serves as Principal Psychologist for Research at Monash Health, where she oversees the strategic creation and oversight of translational research for psychology, and as Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor in Paediatrics at Monash University. She also holds an ongoing Honorary Fellowship at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. Ure obtained her Master of Psychology and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Melbourne, awarded on 10 August 2013. Her career history includes Senior Clinical Psychologist at Monash Children's Hospital since August 2019, Clinical Psychologist at Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne from January 2009 to March 2021, Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne from July 2017 to December 2019, and Honorary Fellow Manager at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute since July 2017. She has worked clinically within public health for almost two decades and has attracted more than $8 million in research funding from competitive sources, including MRFF, philanthropic, and health-service grants, to lead large interdisciplinary projects.
Ure’s research program centers on neurodevelopment, child development, child psychology, anxiety, trauma and resilience, cultural diversity, and implementation science. She leads translational research initiatives that strengthen workforce capability, embed evidence-based practice, and drive innovation in paediatric healthcare, with specific focus on service redesign, autism and ADHD, developmental regression, and digital innovation. As Principal Investigator, she heads the UNIQUE project, a digital tool designed to optimise hospital experiences for autistic children, and multiple projects strengthening research culture, evaluation capability, and interdisciplinary models of care across Monash Health. She leads the Mental Health: Care, Support and Services research stream within the Complex Autism & Neurodevelopment Group in Paediatrics at Monash University. A widely published researcher, Ure has contributed to more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and multiple invited national and international presentations. Key publications include "Improving neurodiversity awareness in school students: A scoping review protocol" (Hiremath et al., 2025, JBI Evidence Synthesis), "Recommendations Provided to Families of Neurodivergent Children with Histories of Interpersonal Trauma" (Kalisch et al., 2025, Journal of Child and Adolescent Trauma), "Therapeutic supports for neurodiverse children who have experienced interpersonal trauma: a scoping review" (Kalisch et al., 2024, Review Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders), and "Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors for autistic spectrum disorders (Review)" (Ure et al., 2023, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews). An AHPRA-endorsed clinical supervisor, she is an active leader in professional and academic communities, serving on committees, advisory groups, and training programs aimed at advancing paediatric psychology and neurodevelopmental care through co-design, culturally responsive practice, and evidence-informed systems.
