Alex Zhang, also known as Junru Zhang, serves as a Lecturer in Accounting in the Accounting and Finance Discipline at the UWA Business School, University of Western Australia. He holds a Ph.D. and prior to his academic career, worked in Credit Risk Strategy and Assurance at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he was responsible for credit risk reporting, monitoring, and assurance in consumer finance. Zhang contributes to undergraduate teaching in management and commerce fields within the Business School.
His research specializations include sustainability accounting, carbon accounting, artificial intelligence in finance, FinTech and alternative finance, climate finance, corporate governance, climate change, and carbon governance. Zhang has produced 29 research outputs documented in the UWA Profiles and Research Repository. Key peer-reviewed publications feature "Does artificial intelligence mitigate climate change exposure?"
