Dr. Abhijeet Singh serves as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance at Curtin University, part of the Faculty of Business and Law. He holds the position of Faculty Master of Commerce Course Lead and MCom Course Lead. His teaching experience spans all areas of accounting, including management accounting, financial accounting, accounting information systems, and auditing. Dr. Singh demonstrates particular expertise in the external audit domain, contributing significantly to the education of undergraduate and postgraduate students in these subjects. He has been recognized for his excellence in teaching, receiving the Curtin University Student Guild Undergraduate Lecturer or Tutor Award in the Faculty of Business and Law.
Dr. Singh's research interests center on financial auditing, auditor attributes, and audit quality. Key publications include "Busy Auditors and Earnings Conservatism" (2024, with Nigar Sultana and others, Curtin University); "The impact of audit market concentration on audit quality" (2026, with F. Alismail and Yeut Hong Thamb); "Busy Auditors, Financial Reporting Timeliness and Quality" (2022); "Independent and Joint Effects of Audit Partner Tenure and Non-Audit Fees on Audit Quality" (2019); and "The use of short role-plays for an ethics intervention in university auditing courses" (2018, Accounting Education, with Ross Taplin, Rosemary Kerr, and Alina Lee). He has secured funding through an AFAANZ Research Grant for the project "The Enhanced Auditor's Report and Financial Reporting Quality," in collaboration with Dr. Ashna Prasad and Dr. Rina Datt. Additionally, Dr. Singh contributed to an innovative project recognized in the Curtinnovation Awards 2024, titled "AI am Motivated: Leveraging Self-Determination Theory in Chatbots," involving a multidisciplinary team including Associate Professor Anna Bunn and others. In academic governance, he serves as Deputy Chair for the Accounting discipline in Curtin University's Principles for Responsible Management Education initiatives. His scholarly work advances understanding of factors influencing audit outcomes and enhances pedagogical approaches in auditing education.
