Rate My Professor Abdallah Berrouk

Prof. Abdallah Sofiane Berrouk is a Professor and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at Khalifa University. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, with a focus on computational fluid dynamics and turbulence modeling, particularly large eddy simulation of turbulent multiphase flows. He also earned an MSc in Oil and Gas Enterprise Management from Aberdeen University in the United Kingdom. With 16 years of university lecturing experience, Prof. Berrouk has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in both chemical and mechanical engineering departments and developed PhD-level courses including Machine Learning for Fluid and Heat Flow and Turbulence Theory and Modelling. He has supervised five postdoctoral fellows, three research engineers, seven PhD students, and 13 master’s students.

Prof. Berrouk has led numerous industrial projects and secured more than six million US dollars in research funding. He serves as a theme leader in the Khalifa University Research Centre on Catalysis and Separation since its inception in 2018. His publication record includes two books, three book chapters, and more than 120 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and conference proceedings, with 45 percent appearing in D1 journals and 80 percent in Q1 journals. He has chaired and participated in university committees and served on technical committees for ADNOC companies. Prof. Berrouk is a recipient of multiple awards, including the Algerian Government Award for top Algerian engineers, several ADNOC R&D awards, and the American Society of Thermal and Fluid Engineering Nuclear Thermal Hydraulics CFD Award in 2024. He is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering and editorial boards of the American Journal of Fluid Dynamics and Pollutants Journal.
