Rate My Professor Erica Dall'Armellina

Dr Erica Dall'Armellina is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine at the University of Leeds. After specialising as a consultant cardiologist at the University of Trieste in Italy, she was awarded a two-year fellowship in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance at the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Wake Forest University in North Carolina, USA. She obtained a DPhil in 2012 from the Oxford Centre for Magnetic Resonance on the application of CMR in acute myocardial infarction. Following her DPhil, she served as CMR clinical lead in the Acute Vascular Imaging Unit at the Heart Centre, Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. Upon relocating to the University of Leeds, Dr Dall'Armellina established her research focusing on quantitative CMR imaging in ischemic heart disease and specifically on novel diffusion tensor imaging techniques.

Her research interests include establishing the clinical and predictive value of quantitative cardiac magnetic resonance techniques in cardiac disease, applications of CMR in acute coronary syndromes, diffusion tensor imaging for prediction of remodelling in acute myocardial infarction, and IVIM DTI in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She holds a British Heart Foundation Intermediate Clinical Research Fellowship, awarded in 2013 and extended in 2018. Dr Dall'Armellina is Principal Investigator, Honorary Consultant Cardiologist, and a member of the Leeds Institute of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine. She supervises PhD and MRes students, teaches MBChB Year 1 and Year 5 students, trains registrars and research fellows, and is invited to teach at international CMR courses. She serves as Vice-Chair of the SCMR scientific committee, member of the EACVI CMR exam board, and on the Editorial Board of the European Heart Journal - Cardiovascular Imaging. She is Euro and SCMR level 3 accredited and maintains an international reputation in CMR through high-quality peer-reviewed publications and external recognition.
