About the role:
Dr Olena Rudyk’s lab goal is to understand the mechanisms underlying vascular changes in diseases such as pulmonary hypertension. The successful candidate will broadly investigate the role of cyclin-dependent kinase 19 and other growth-related kinases in pulmonary vascular cell proliferation/pulmonary hypertension, and the roles of these processes in maintaining health or dysregulation during the disease.
The ideal candidate would have a background and research experience in cardiovascular science, general cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or redox biology and hold a PhD in a relevant area of research. You must be ambitious, strongly research-motivated and reliable, with good organisational, verbal and interpersonal skills and attention to detail, willing to work self-driven on your own and as a part of a research team.
The post will be based at the British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence in the School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences, located at St Thomas' Hospital. The post is funded by the British Heart Foundation and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 16 months from the start of contract.
