The Department of Communication at Clemson University invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in Communication to begin August 15, 2026. Applicants must have expertise in sports communication and the ability to contribute to teaching courses in that area (e.g., Survey of Sports Communication, Strategic Communication in Sports, Sports Media Criticism, Social Media and Sports Communication, Sport News Media, Communication and Sport Socialization, Communication in Sports Organizations). The Expertise of eligible candidates must also align clearly with the land grant mission of Clemson University. Candidates will also be expected to engage in departmental and professional service related to the Clemson Elevate strategic plan.
Housed in the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences (CBSHS), the Department of Communication currently offers three academic degree programs: a BA in Communication (with foci in health communication, strategic communication, organizational communication, and media/technology), a BA in Sports Communication, and an MA in Communication. Additionally, the department has proposed a Ph.D. in Communication and Media to be launched in 2026 or 2027.
Qualifications
Required qualifications for the position include: a Master's Degree in Communication or a closely related field (or equivalent professional experience in sports communication and media) and expertise in teaching sports communication courses.
Preferred qualifications for the position include: a record of excellent teaching and advising at the undergraduate level; exemplary university and disciplinary service; and PhD (or ABD) in Communication or a closely related field.
