Event Coordinator

The Event Coordinator, Graduations plays an important role within the Registrar & Student Services team, supporting the planning and delivery of graduation ceremonies and related events. This position is ideal for an enthusiastic and highly organised event professional who enjoys working collaboratively and delivering memorable experiences.
Working closely with senior team members and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, the Event Coordinator will help ensure graduation events are delivered smoothly, professionally and in line with the strategic priorities of the Division of Education & Student Experience.
The role reports to the Event Manager and has no direct reports.
Specific accountabilities include:
- Assist in the event planning, coordination and delivery of graduation related events and ceremonies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of event plans and documentation for graduation related events and ceremonies, providing support in shaping policies and procedures under the guidance of senior team members.
- Provide effective advice and best practice recommendations relating to event production, processes, policy and activities.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to deliver services for graduation events whilst assisting with budget management.
About You:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the coordination and planning of events, providing effective customer service and stakeholder management.
- Excellent time management, accuracy, attention to detail, organisational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.
- Well-developed interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to exercise initiative, think creatively and adopt an active approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent skills in the use of standard office desktop software such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, and internet applications for researching and preparing reports, statistics and other documents.
- Ability to make sound judgements and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated experience supporting and contributing to projects and initiatives.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
