COORDINATOR / COMPLIANCE SUPPORT SERVICES
Position Summary
The Coordinator of Compliance Support Services at CMU supports the universitys state and federal compliance requirements in the delivery of educational activities. This includes researching relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines and being able to apply these requirements to university compliance activities. A strong sense of professional curiosity (being able to ask the right questions and searching for answers) and the desire to complete matters professionally and thoroughly will contribute to success in this position. The Coordinator will be expected to use high-level organizational and critical thinking skills to assist in accomplishing compliance matters such as state authorization, professional certification/licensure, military, and university accreditation. In addition, this role may assist in coordinating contracts, agreements, MOUs and MOAs that contribute to the delivery of education and education-related activities in Michigan and beyond.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or (4) years equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- One (1) year of professional/administrative work experience preferably related to compliance, regulatory, or contractual functions.
- Demonstrated success in coordinating special projects under limited supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively use university systems and software.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- Must present a positive, professional, and credible image.
- Ability to work full-time from the designated on-site work location during standard 8am-5pm office hours.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional work experience in a legal or regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated experience with, and knowledge of, state and federal regulatory environments.
- Demonstrated experience with, and knowledge of, a non-traditional, higher education environment.
- Knowledge of specific software and/or mainframe/systems skills including Excel, Access, Visio, SIS, SAP, FRS, and Document Imaging.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in the research of relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines and applying these requirements to university compliance activities. This will include anticipating broader impacts and proposing solutions and actions as appropriate.
- Assists with preparation and maintenance of various reports related to university compliance items including but not limited to those pertaining to state authorization, professional licensure disclosures, new and changing academic programs, and scheduled reports on a monthly, quarterly, annual, and bi-annual basis.
- Assists in the research, collection, and organization of data necessary to support compliance for educational program delivery, which may consist of licensure applications, state authorization documents, materials required to submit to regulatory bodies (i.e. university accrediting body, U.S. Department of Education, etc.) and other compliance-related documents.
- Compiles and analyzes relevant data into digestible, easy-to-understand reports and spreadsheets.
- Assists with military compliance through data collection, report-building/maintenance, and other support activities as needed.
- Coordinates and conducts training for relevant staff and academic partners regarding applicable compliance requirements and initiatives.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders to facilitate compliance and completion of requirements pursuant to established guidelines and practices.
- Assists with professional certification/licensure matters in collaboration with academic partners, including appropriate documentation, to meet regulatory requirements.
- Serves as first line of review to proofread accuracy of compliance documents before submission.
- Assists in coordinating contracts, agreements, MOUs and MOAs that contribute to the delivery of education and education-related activities in Michigan and beyond.
- Handles special projects and assignments as directed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
