Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Chemical Stores Assistant to join Health, Safety and Environment, People Services, Administrative Division.
The Chemical Store Assistant is a member of a small team dedicated to providing high quality customer service to staff and students of the University. The position is the initial point of contact in relation to the supply and distribution of chemicals and associated laboratory consumables and provides support in the management of the University’s ChemStore by assisting in the ordering, receiving, stocktakes, picking and supply of chemical orders. The Chemical Store Assistant operates in the ChemStore based at the Gardens Point Campus, and is part of the Department of Health, Safety and Environment. In the ChemStore, it is expected that all staff contribute to the achievement of the Department’s vision, values and strategic goals.

What you need to succeed
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of an associate diploma level qualification with relevant work related experience.
- Demonstrated basic chemical knowledge within a storage and warehouse environment relating to the handling and storage of hazardous materials, including segregation of incompatible classes.
- Proven success in providing a quality customer-focused service to a diverse customer base.
- Demonstrated ability to connect and collaborate with colleagues in a team environment utilising well developed interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated digital literacy skills with the ability to maintain electronic and financial records with a high degree of accuracy. Experience utilising Oracle Financial (including iProcurement) and Chemwatch is highly desirable.
- Well-developed organisational skills, including efficiency, time and task management, with a strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
