Position Summary
MIDWIFERY FACULTY POSITION - OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGY UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO, SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
The University of New Mexico (UNM), School of Medicine (SOM) and Health Sciences Center (HSC) is seeking a full scope nurse-midwife that will contribute actively to the climate of diversity and inclusivity. We invite applications for an Open Rank, Lecturer Track position in Midwifery. UNM Obstetrics and Gynecology's Midwifery Division has a busy clinical practice and is active in education.
We are a large midwifery group practice that provides full scope midwifery care within the UNM Health System. We are group of diverse and dedicated midwives who are passionate about patient care, advocacy, health system improvement, and education of the next generation of clinicians. This is a full time clinical position within an academic system which includes clinical teaching of a variety of learners. This is not a didactic teaching position. Our role as faculty within the SOM provides many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration & professional growth based on your interests. The position will manage women's health care, focusing particularly on pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, care of the newborn, and the family planning and gynecologic needs of women. The position will practice within the health care system incorporating appropriate consultation, collaborative management, or referral, as indicated by the health status of the client. The position will practice in accord with the Standards for the Practice of Midwifery, as defined by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. The candidate hired will be expected to participate in the education and training of student nurse midwives and other advanced practice providers, medical students, residents and fellows in the clinical setting. Classroom education of these learners may also be a possibility. This position requires a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; student success; and effective engagement with broadly diverse communities.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Master's degree (MSN)
- Participation in the Certificate Maintenance Program with the American Midwifery Certification Board (or eligible).
- CNM license with New Mexico Department of Health (or eligible)
- RN license with New Mexico Board of Nursing (or eligible).
- State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification and Federal DEA registration (or eligible).
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience teaching adult learners
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment
- Interest in participating in clinical research
- At least one year clinical experience working in academic medical center
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
