About Zulfiqar

Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Memon serves as Full Professor and Director of the FAST National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES), Karachi Campus, in the Department of Computer Science. He holds a PhD from Vrije University Amsterdam, The Netherlands, obtained through an Overseas Scholarship from Pakistan's Higher Education Commission (HEC) in 2006 and a Sindh Government Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies in 2005. His previous positions include Director of Research (ORIC) and faculty member at Sukkur IBA University, as well as Research Fellow at Vrije University Amsterdam.

Throughout his career, Memon has published nearly 80 research papers in national and international journals and presented at numerous conferences. Notable publications include "Agent-based modeling of emotion contagion in groups" (Bosse et al., 2015, Cognitive Computation), "A multi-agent model for mutual absorption of emotions" (Bosse et al., 2009), "A multi-agent model for emotion contagion spirals integrated within a supporting ambient agent model" (Bosse et al., 2009), "Scavenge: An intelligent multi-agent based voice-enabled virtual assistant for LMS" (Laeeq & Memon, 2021, Interactive Learning Environments), and "Addressing the future data management challenges in IoT: A proposed framework" (Abbasi et al., 2017). He has led research projects funded by the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, USAID, and the Government of Sindh. Memon's accolades include the Best Paper Award at the 7th International Symposium on Neural Networks (ISNN’10) in Japan, professional grants from the East-West Center USA (2019) and University of Tyumen, Russia (2019), and the Principal Fellowship (PFHEA) from AdvanceHE, UK.

As an HEC Approved PhD Supervisor, he has been convener and member of the HEC Postgraduate Program Review Committee (PGPR), HEC Institutional Performance Evaluation (IPE) Expert Reviewer, and participant in HEC NCEAC Computing accreditation panels. He has served as Chief Editor, Editor, and Reviewer for HEC-recognized journals and conducts corporate training for institutions like United Bank and Bank Al Habib Ltd. His teaching portfolio encompasses Distributed Data Processing, Data Warehousing and Data Mining, Database Systems, Agile Software Development, Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, and Object Oriented Programming.
